Airtel becomes second biggest telecom company in May: TRAI

Vodafone Idea topped with 39.75 million subscribers and 33.36 percent market share.

In May Jio, 81.80 lakh new customers added, Vodafone Idea and Airtel customers reduced.
 

Jio started operations in September 2016 and at the cheapest rates achieved a very fast growth in the highly competitive telecom sector.  Airtel had started operations much earlier in 1995.
Mukesh Ambani's telecom firm Reliance Jio has won the title of the country's second largest telecom company by overtaking Bharti Airtel in May.  According to the data of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), the number of subscribers of Jio rose to 32.29 million and market share reached 27.80 percent in May.
Jio started operations in September 2016 and at the cheapest rates achieved a very fast growth in the highly competitive telecom sector.  Airtel had started operations much earlier in 1995.  In such a situation, it becomes important to overtake Airtel by Jio.
According to the latest TRAI figures, Vodafone Idea is ranked first with 39.75 million subscribers and 33.36 percent market share.  After this, Geo is the place.  Airtel is third with 32.03 crore subscribers and 27.58 percent market share.
During the month of May, Jio added 81.80 million new customers.  Vodafone Idea and Airtel, respectively, declined by 56.97 lakh crore and 15.08 lakh crore subscribers.  Earlier, Vodafone Idea was in first place in the month of April.  In April, Airtel was in second place and Jio was third.
